Having held many responsibilities over the years and learning the business from the ground up at The Schmidt Investment Group, Melissa is an invaluable member of The Advisory Group. One of Melissa's core responsibilities is to meet with clients for regular portfolio and wealth management reviews and to build out strategy and overall planning for these clients in the areas of portfolio strategy, tax, estate, insurance and legacy planning. Melissa is also responsible for maintaining and strengthening client and strategic partner relationships, managing all client insurance policies, conducting estate documentation reviews and implementing and monitoring client wealth management solutions in accordance with clients' financial plans and investment policies.

Melissa has obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and is a member of the FP Canada Standards Council. The CFP certification is considered the standard for the financial planning profession worldwide and attests that designation holders have demonstrated the knowledge, skills, experience and ethics to examine their clients’ entire financial picture, at the highest level of complexity required of the profession. Melissa volunteers with FP Canada as a CFP exam scorer. Volunteers are selected through a rigorous application and interview process and successful applicants are recognized as specialists in their area of practice and have a keen interest in advancing the financial planning profession. Melissa holds the Canadian and International Trust and Estate Practitioner designation (TEP) which formally identifies her as a qualified practitioner dealing with trusts and estates. She is a member of the Edmonton Estate Planning Council and a member of the Edmonton Chapter for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Melissa holds an Education degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
With young children, Melissa spends time volunteering within her kids school and church community. Living an active life, and having completed an Ironman in 2010, Melissa enjoys volunteering at triathlon events, and encouraging those around her to live active lifestyles.
When Melissa is outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their young twins. Together, they love trying new arts and crafts, playing sports, testing new baking recipes, and spending time with extended family.
