Mascots Race for Hope 2018
In a world where athletes are reviewed as heroes. Where we obsess over our favorite teams and endure bitter rivalries with those who choose against us, one group has been forgotten until now. Moving from the stands to the field, it's time for our beloved mascots to experience true competition only with immense determination, perseverance and even more determination, will the mascots bring glory to their teams.
All right. So we understand that you guys have a big race to get ready for and that you're here to train with us.
We're here to prepare you for the first annual mascots race for hope.
Now, you guys are the selected few who get to pair with Jolene and I. Bring it in.
On three, one, two, three. Hurray!
Well, when I was asked to train a different type of athlete, I was a little concerned, but hey, I'm up for a challenge.
I'm ready to go the mascots. I just want to let you know, usually I'm used to coaching elite level athletes, so I'm sure this is going to be quite the experience. I'm going to dial it down and really focus on the fundamentals with these ones here today.
All right. What is going on here? This is what you guys call stretching?
Ok, please stop. Now. I want to get everybody to bend over and touch their toes and breathe and stand up and ex. Oh, my goodness.
These mascots, well, you can tell they want it bad but they're out of shape, they're uncoordinated, but hopefully they have the will to win.
No, no, no, no. You have to hit the bag. See. Go ahead. No.
There's definitely a communication of barrier, but they really forces us coaches to really demonstrate the movements.
Come on, yeah you can hit it harder. Use that muscle.
Yeah. Pow one two no step.
Well we've gone through some pretty basic stuff and the mascots only have to run 400 meters, so it shouldn't be that hard. Now the community participants have to run 5 or even 10K. Eddie, the Eagle has got to be the wild card. He's definitely flown under the radar.
You've all done some great training and every single one of you guys has a chance to win.
Now all you need to do is rest up and we'll see you race day.
On three, one, two, three, hurray.
With their training finished, the moment is almost here. Who will win? Who will lose? Who will bring glory to their supporters. Who will go down in history as the greatest mascot who ever raced?
Find out on May 12th.
